Durham is a county in the North-East of England. Coal and iron mining was a predominant feature of its industrial past with its ongoing regeneration it is now promoted as a tourist destination. There are fine sandy beaches and much wildlife to see along the 11 mile coastal footpath of the East Durham coast.
