Sussex is an historic county in south-east England now divided into East Sussex and West Sussex. East Sussex is known as 1066 country after the Battle of Hastings the start of the Middle Ages and Norman Conquest of Great Britain. A re-enactment is performed every year at Battle Abbey a few miles from Hastings the actual site of the famous Battle.
