Built in 1750 by local businessman John Boydell a leading publisher of engravings silversmith and Mayor of London (1790). A grade 2 listed building the house boasts a good cantilever staircase built of sandstone which was designed by a Flemish architect captured during the Napoleonic war. The house remained in the Boydell family ownership until the mid 1970s until converted into 1 of the leading hotels in the area.
