Description:
Tucked away in the depths of the Weald of Kent, this pretty old farmhouse is an ideal place to spend some time exploring the many attractions Kent has to offer. Hosts, Ginny and Nick Morris believe in a relaxed and informal approach so guests get a warm welcome and a real feel of life as it is lived in the English countryside. Breakfasts, eaten communally round the large oak table but with individual timings to suit, are large and varied ranging from a simple continental to a full-blooded English fry-up and guests are offered a choice before they retire in the evening. Eggs, cooked on the kitchen Aga to individual requirements, are fresh from the family flock of free-range chickens with lashings of home-made bread and marmalade, to go with them. And at the same time, don't miss the opportuity to come away after breakfast with a souvenir pot of Genny's home-made jam, marmalade or chutney which are all for sale in the dining room! The non-smoking 3 twin bedrooms are simply but attractively furnished, all with tea and coffee-making facilities and guests have the use of a small sitting room with colour TV where they can relax and unwind. Alternatively on warm summer evenings they may prefer to sit outside in the garden. For evening meals, the Greyhound pub, is a five minute amble down the drive (not on Tuesdays or Sundays) and when this is unavailable The Castle Inn at Chiddingstone or the Little Brown Jug in Chiddingstone Causeway are excellent alternatives. The tiny rural hamlet of Charcott is ideally situated with many of Kent's famous historic sites only minutes away. Trains run locally from Penshurst once an hour to London Bridge or from nearby Sevenoaks direct to Charing Cross.
