Families, friends and couples a like will enjoy Old Forge Cottage, a charming two hundred year + old secluded dwelling set within the sleepy rural hamlet of Elim on the Isle of Anglesey. After a recent period of renovation and refurbishment the cottage, once a village shop and forge has now been tastefully and sympathetically restored to a high standard, to offer quality holiday accommodation with modern facilities, that retains many original features without loss of character and charm.
If you are seeking peace and quiet together with rural tranquillity then Old Forge Cottage is the perfect holiday retreat all year round. Centrally set on Anglesey within beautiful countryside makes Old Forge Cottage the perfect location to explore all that Anglesey and its surrounding areas have to offer. The cottage is within easy reach of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Heritage Coastline and award winning beaches. Cycle routes and walking routes such as ‘The Mill Trail’ are right on the cottage doorstep, Llyn Allaw, only a few minutes drive from the cottage is the largest freshwater lake on Anglesey with an abundance of flora and fauna making it a wildlife and birdwatchers paradise, the lake is home to many types of birds such as great crested grebe, wildfowl, heron, mute swan, greylag goose, Canada goose, tern and lesser whitethroat to name but a few, one can also find bird hides around the lake for your comfort. Being annually stocked with many fish such as rainbow and brown trout the lake is also a fisherman's delight. The lake has a visitor centre , parking facilities and boat hire service. Old Forge Cottage is fortunate to be located within minutes walk of historic Llynon windmill, the only working windmill to survive in Wales today and Melin Howell watermill the only watermill to be found on Anglesey today. For those of you who want to explore further a field, and sample a different land then the port of Holyhead is only 15 to 20 minutes drive away and offers daily sea crossings to Dublin, Ireland. Snowdonia National Park, which on clear days can be seen from Elim, is only thirty minutes or so drive from the cottage where stunning mountain vistas, peaks and valleys can be seen and explored. To make your stay as fulfilling and pleasurable as possible we will be more than happy to offer advice, information and help on all the many attractions, places to visit and activities that Anglesey has to offer.
Old Forge Cottage Accommodation Details
Old Forge Cottage can accommodate families, couples or groups of up to four, the cottage has two bedrooms, each bedroom having the capability to offer either a king size bed or two single beds in each if requested, a cot is also available upon request. Extra guest beds can by arrangement be provided if you wish to increase sleeping space but please bear in mind that Forge Cottage is essentially a two bed roomed cottage intended to sleep four people. A delightful pine staircase leads upstairs to the master bedroom where one will find an en-suite shower room complete with toilet, washbasin and corner enclosed shower cubicle, a shaver light with shaver electric point. The master bedroom also offers a double wardrobe, bedside cabinet storage space and chest of drawers.
The second of the two bedrooms has use of a separate bathroom complete with toilet, washbasin, bath with shower attachment and shaver light with shaver electric point. The bathroom has plenty of storage space for towels etc. A Tallboy wardrobe together with bedside cabinet storage space is offered in the second of the two bedrooms. We understand that your comfort when on holiday is of great importance especially when it comes to the condition and standard of beds provided, all the beds in Old Forge Cottage are new ‘ Silent Night Beds’ with a double sprung ‘Miracoil’ system that helps ensure a good nights sleep. Old Forge Cottage has a delightfully open planned kitchen with original Welsh quarry tiled floor that incorporates breakfast integration of kitchen, lounge and dinning area together, making the cottage very practical, user friendly and holiday orientated indeed. The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, fridge with freezer compartment, stainless steel oven and microwave, in fact all the equipment and utensils that one would expect to find in ones own kitchen are available at Old Forge Cottage making holiday cooking a pleasure. The cottage has ample dining area with spacious dining table with six chairs, together with breakfast bar stools, a baby high chair is also available upon request. The lounge has two deep comfy settees and coffee table and is equipped with colour television, full package SKY TV, DVD player and stereo Hi Fi player. The cottage has a stove/heater feature fireplace together with full central heating with radiators sited in every room in the cottage. The Cottage has its own private patio area that is accessed via the stable door from the kitchen area, this in turn leads into the main lovely enclosed garden space where one will find a BBQ, and selection of garden furniture including table, chairs, parasol and sun loungers.
Old Forge Cottage also provides a selection of books, games and DVD’S if so required , a welcome pack of basic items such as tea, coffee, sugar, milk and bread are also provided free of charge in order to get you started, if specific items are required then we can by arrangement provide a service by where we purchase the required items which can be paid for at the start of your stay. Old Forge Cottage can also provide a washing/drying service if required. There is ample room to store cycles, fishing equipment, jet skis or even a small boat if so needed. Old Forge Cottage has yet to attain a Wales Tourist Board star rating due to the fact that the cottage is new to the holiday accommodation market, however it is in the process star rating which should be complete within the next six months. It must be noted that the managing director of a leading holiday cottage letting company has suggested that Old Forge Cottage could achieve a four star rating if it were to be assessed today.
