About Berkshire

Widely known as the Royal County of Berkshire, due to the presence of the royal residence of Windsor Castle, Berkshire is a gateway to London. The famous Royal Ascot horse racing event takes place in Berkshire at Ascot Racecourse. It is a very rural county with a lot of countryside and scenic views to enjoy.

It is based in the south east of England just outside London and the major towns are Reading, Bracknell, Windsor and Slough. Berkshire is also reputed for its production of cheeses such as Barkham Blue, Waterloo and Wigmore.

Legoland is situated in Berkshire whilst Eton College, Museum of English Rural Life and Bisham Abbey are all great places to visit when in the area. The M4 also gives great access to the centre of London whilst Wales and the south coast are all potential day trips if you want to venture further out.

The Thames Valley passes through Reading making it a great region to explore and take in the fabulous River Thames as it weaves its way through acres of countryside en route to the centre of London.
