Cambridgeshire is a county that lies in the east of England. The county town is Cambridge, home to the world famous Cambridge University. The county is largely low lying and has the lowest point in England with Holme Fen lying 9 feet under sea level.

The main towns in Cambridgeshire include Cambridge, Huntingdon and Ely. Newmarket racecourse is also in Cambridgeshire and holds some major horse racing events. Linton Zoo at Linton, the Imperial War Museum at Duxford and the fens are all places of interest worth visiting.

The county thrives on a large agricultural landscape with Fowlmere RSPB Reserve, Grafham Water Nature Reserve and Lattersey Nature Reserve all attractions that show the best nature Cambridgeshire has to offer.

Cambridgeshire also has a number of historic castles and buildings to visit which give an insight into England's vast remarkable past. The county has also been the birthplace of many famous names including the former leader Oliver Cromwell and scientific genius Stephen Hawking. The county also has easy access to the east coast of England as well as the major cities of the country of London and Birmingham.

1. Linton Zoo - Linton, Cambridge, CB21 4NT

Eighteen acres of wonderful gardens that is home to a big variety of animals including tigers, lemurs, parrots, lions and zebras. Talks and animal encounters provide fun for all the family and kids will enjoy the play areas.

2. Imperial War Museum - Duxford, Cambridgeshire, CB22 4QR

A fascinating and interesting museum with over two hundred historic aircraft on display and award winning exhibit, located at an early RAF station established during the First World War. There is also an American Air Museum with a collection of land vehicles and many interactive displays.

3. Anglesey Abbey, Gardens and Lode Mill - Cambridge, CB5 9EJ

A originally built in the 13th century that was later transformed into a magnificent country house by Lord Fairhaven in the early 20th century. Lovely hundred acres of grounds including formal landscaped gardens and informal areas perfect for wonderful walks.

4. FlagFen Archaeology Site - Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, PE6 7QJ

Discover what life was like over 3,500 years ago during the Bronze Age at this living history museum set in twenty eight acres of parkland.
