About Hertfordshire

Hertfordshire

Hertfordshire is considered to be one of the 'home counties' and is based in the east of England. It is engulfed by the expansive reach of Greater London but still has many characteristics of its historic past.

A lot of the county lies in the Metropolitan Green Belt area that forbids any building of new properties so there are plenty of walks and cycle routes to be enjoyed. The Chiltern Hills are situated in the west of the county and there are a large number of manor houses and castles.

Knebworth House is located within the county and has been the site of concerts and festivals. There is also the Ye Olde Fighting Cocks pub which has a claim to be the oldest pub in Britain. The Magic Roundabout at Hemel Hempstead is also a more modern landmark and a testament to how the area has evolved.

Transport is accessible within the region. The M1, M4 and M25 run through the county with Stansted and Luton airports giving commuter routes around the world. The London Underground also makes travel to London very convenient.
