About Norfolk

The county of Norfolk lies on the east coast of England is mainly a rural area. The Norfolk Broads are a small window into how the county as a whole shapes up with spectacular views and amazing scenery. It has borders with Lincolnshire, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk.

Examples of tourist attractions within Norfolk are the Royal residence at Sandringham House, Sandringham, the city of Norwich, the coastal town of Cromer and Holkham Bay. Norwich maintains some outstanding Norman architecture whilst the beaches at Cromer and Holkham Bay are enough to make anyone want to visit them more than once.

Norwich and Great Yarmouth also have several amusement parks and zoos which can provide brilliant entertainment for all the family. The Sea Life Centre in Great Yarmouth also gives a wonderful insight into life under the waves of the North Sea.

Norfolk is mainly low lying and the Norfolk Broads are fantastic for anglers, walkers and cyclists with the high amount of paths and walkways to explore. Even though the county is sparsely populated there is a diverse choice of activities for tourists to do.

Bure Valley Railway - Aylsham, Norwich, NR11 6BW

Norfolk's longest narrow gauge heritage steam railway runs between Aylsham and Wroxham. The 18 mile round trip runs through the Bure Valley countryside with a combined train and cruise on the Norfolk Broads available. Trains can be booked for special events.

Hunstanton Sea Life Sanctuary - Southern Promenade, Hunstanton, Norfolk, PE36 5BH

On the west coast of Norfolk is the Hunstanton Sea Life Sanctuary with a hospital for sick seals and fish and a sanctuary for penguins and otters. With several exhibits, a shark tunnel to explore and lots of feeding times and talks throughout the day you'll be sure of a great marine experience.

Castle Acre Priory - Norfolk, PE32 2XD

Norwich Castle - Centre of Norwich

Perched high upon a grassy mound in the center of town lies Norwich Castle a reminder of Norman power. It has now been refurbished in lavish style and holds the Castle Museum and Art Gallery

Sandringham House - Sandringham, PE35 6EN

Sandringham House is located in the Norfolk coast area of outstanding natural beauty and is the country home of the British Royal Family and its estate is open to the public when the Queen is not in residence.

St George's Guildhall - King's Lynn, Norfolk, PE30 1HA

Englands largest surviving medieval Guildhall now converted to theatre and arts centre but still retaining many interesting features. National Trust.
