About Northamptonshire

Kirby Hall, Northamptonshire

Northamptonshire, commonly known as Northants, is a landlocked county in the east Midlands region of England. The county town is Northampton and it is surrounded by eight fellow counties. It also has easy access to a number of Britain's main cities and towns.

The county is coveted in history and is often touted as the 'county of squires and spires'. There is a rich presence of historic churches and houses that make it a historian's paradise. Just outside Northampton the final resting place of Diana Princess of Wales can be found at the Spencer family home at Althorp House. As one of the most loved members of the Royal constitution before her sad and untimely death, this is a very popular attraction for anyone visiting Northamptonshire.

A number of forests and parks provide outdoor exploring if you so fancy with a fine selection of walks and paths available throughout the county.
