About Oxfordshire

Oxfordshire

Oxfordshire is a county in the middle of England that lies just west of London. It is surrounded by the Chiltern Hills to the east and the Cotswold Hills to the west. The M4 runs straight through it allowing for easy access to either the east coast of England or the west coast of Wales.

The county town of Oxfordshire is Oxford and it really can brag about being a postcard perfect scenic county with glorious limestone structures and views that will take breaths away.

Oxford University, one of the most famous universities in the world, is based in the county as is the white horse at Uffington, which has been rumoured to be dated back roughly 3,000 years.

It is also in this county that Saint George of England is believed to have slain the dragon that gave him his reputation. Blenheim Palace, the resting place of Sir Winston Churchill, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and worth visiting. The Cotswold Wildlife Park is home to some amazing species of animals and plants. The River Thames also runs through the county and provides scenic strolls for those who wish to stop on by.
