About Somerset

Somerset is a county in the south west of England and is famous for its production of very strong cider. The county town is Taunton and there are a number of marvelous sandy beaches and seaside resorts such as Minehead and Weston-Super-Mare in the region on the north coast facing the Bristol Channel.

There are a plethora of attractions in the area for all the family including Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Bath with its Roman Baths and Wells Cathedral. Glastonbury Tor, near to the site of the world class annual music and arts festival of the same name, is where the remains of King Arthur were said to be discovered by the monks of the cathedral.

The county is covered in English heritage sites and National Trust properties with gardens to visit making it an intriguing county with lots to learn. Exmoor National Park covers a vast area of the county and there are endless rolling hills as the Mendip Hills and Quantock Hills cover a great deal of space in the county.

The urban settlement of Bristol is also a brilliant place to take the whole family for some shopping an entertainment with a host of shops, theatres, bars, clubs and pubs on offer.
