Dunbartonshire

Dunbartonshire is an historic county on the west of Scotland and takes its name from the town of Dunbarton. Meaning 'Fort of the Britons' Dunbarton is dominated by its castle which sits upon Dunbarton Rock a distinctive hill at the mouth of the River Leven and has a long history of shipbuilding and whiskey making a great attraction to the visitor.

The small town of Balloch is on the southern banks of Loch Lomond, which is the largest body of fresh water in Britain, and the Loch Lomond Shores visitor's center the gateway to Scotland's first national park located here. An abundance of outdoor sports are here from canoeing and Kayaking to Cycling and Hiking.
