About Carmarthenshire

Carmarthenshire is a county based in the south west of Wales with a coastline that stretches from the end reaches of the beautiful Mumbles region of Swansea down to the glorious beaches of Pembrokeshire. The county town of Carmarthenshire is Carmarthen but the largest town in the county is Llanelli. Llanelli is home to the professional Welsh Premier League football club Llanelli AFC and the European rugby union giants, the Scarlets. Carmarthenshire is a hot bed for natural attractions with such places as Carmel National Nature Reserve, Millennium Coastal Park, Pembrey County Park and the National Botanic Garden of Wales available to visit and appreciate. There are a high number of museums and other sites to visit including the Carmarthenshire County Museum, Dolaucothi Gold Mines, Dylan Thomas Boathouse, Kidwelly Industrial Museum and the Pendine Museum of Speed. Carmarthenshire is relatively easy to get to via the M4 which stretches from London to the far west coast of Wales. The Gwili Railway and Teifi Valley Railway also offer other transport around the region. The county is also scattered with historic castles that boast a host of intriguing stories and legends. Carreg Cennen Castle, Kidwelly Castle and Llansteffan Castle are all soaked in myth and history.
