About Glamorgan

The Gower peninsula Glamorgan

The region of Glamorgan consists of several county boroughs such as Cardiff, Bridgend, Merthyr Tydfil, Newport, Swansea and Rhondda Cynon Taf. It is perhaps the most well known area of Wales as it boasts the major cities that Wales has such as Cardiff, Newport and Swansea.

Cardiff is a buzzing European capital city that is growing in size and prestige with every passing year. The Millennium Stadium, Cardiff Bay, St. David's 2 Shopping Centre and Wales Millennium Centre offer great entertainment and shopping. Swansea and Newport also offer great facilities with Swansea being home to one of Europe's most talented rugby teams, The Ospreys. Whilst Newport was recently deemed fit to hold the 2010 Ryder Cup.

The surrounding area is also a plethora of historic castles and buildings including Cardiff Castle, Castell Coch and Cyfartha Castle. The Cardiff Docks and Merthyr Town are covered with traces of its rich mining and coal history whilst The Big Pit is also a superb experience for anyone who wants to understand how Cardiff became the busiest city in the world at the turn of the century thanks to its coal trade.

The lakes and reservoirs just before the Brecon Beacons offer great out of city getaways with amazing views of the Welsh countryside whilst the Vale of Glamorgan is home to the rich and famous with a number of quality pubs and quaint villages to visit.
