Croft holidays is located 0. Five mile from Newtonmore in the Cairngorms National Park. The main thing our guests comment on is the views of the Cairngorm mountains which can be seen from the garden. We are situated above the village so these can be enjoyed in peace and peaceful. In the foreground are sheep and lambs as we are in a crofting area together with lapwings curlews oyster catchers and hares. But also our guests also find the cottage well appointed warm and comfy which is reflected in our recent three rating. Newtonmore is a traditional highland village with a long and colourful history guests can learn more at the Highland folk museum or Clan Macpherson museums situated in the village. There is also an annual highland games and clan gathering in August as well as weekly shinty matches. Today it depends on agriculture and tourism. We have three cottages which each sleep 1-4 people; these can be booked individually or together for groups. Layout is different in each 1 has a double bedroom 1 a family room with kingsize and single beds and 1 twin beds. Each has a shower room toilet fully equipped kitchen and dining area. There is shared use of a washing machine and drying room. Free Wi-fi is available. We normally let for the week Sat- Sat but alternative start days or short breaks can also be accommodated. The area is suitable for outdoor activities as well as walking cycling skiing sailing angling and lots more. It is in arguably the best area for wildlife in the UK with the unique alpine flora as well as wildlife as well as otters pinemartins deer and wildcats. It is also a useful base for touring the Highlands as both Fort William and Inverness can be reached easily. Fine Highland fare can be obtained in the local restaurants. There is also amazing landscape for photography or painting and fused glass classes can be taken at the cottage (additional charge).

Directions Approx 2 hours from Edinburgh or Glasgow. Follow the A9 to the Newtonmore Kingussie turn off (take this). Drive most of the way through Newtonmore village until you come to the Highlander Hotel. Turn left just after the hotel and continue up the hill through a cattle grid for about half a mile the cottages are on the left hand side. The sign at the entrance says Croftdhu steading. |
