Jill and Rupert Richardson (not to mention our dog and 2 cats. ) look forward to friendly you to this delightful comfy Victorian house with its lovely gardens which was recently recognised as the Bed and Breakfast of the Year at the North East Tourism Awards 2011. As a small high-quality bed and breakfast establishment we aim to provide a comfy friendly - and tranquil - home for you to enjoy; and we do excellent breakfasts! - full of local produce. As a recent regular guest put it Jill and Rupert at Dowfold House are a class act.

They offer bed and breakfasting in grand style but somehow make it welcoming and intimate. Its a excellent encapsulation of all that we try to do - and I half-wish Id thought of it myself although it sounds better from a third-party. Our rooms are comfy and well-equipped all with ensuite facilities while our home and gardens offer plenty of opportunity for relaxation - or wickedly competitive croquet! Guests love it here.

The City of Durham is a twenty minute drive away and our Bed and Breakfast accommodation is close to the A68 a major route to and from Scotland. Newcastle Gateshead Sunderland and the Durham Coast are all close by of our Bed and Breakfast accommodation while Crook acts as a gateway to the Durham Dales (Weardale Teesdale) and the North Pennines.
