Only a twenty minute walk from the village of Grassington and close by to the Dales Way and the Cycle Way. Over 4 centuries ago a Scottish moss-trooper (Jamie Ibbotson) settled and built Ling House and his descendants have lived in it ever since. The family made Threshfield renowned for making besoms and horse dealing. Making the besoms from ling gathered from the moor and then delivering them all around the dales using their horses and carts. You can view all the tools they used for making the besoms at Skipton museum and you can still see today quite a few of their favourite horse shoes displayed on the barn door. The village has its own Pub serving excellent food local ales and wine and a Tea Room. Ideally situated being just a twenty minute walk from the lively village of Grassington and having the old market town of Skipton with its stunning castle only eight miles away. From Ling House theres plenty to do you can take pleasure in stunning walks or hire a bicycle in Grassington discover the local historical villages visit local markets festivals and exhibitions angling at the local trout farm (Kilnsey Park) or buy a day pass and fish on the river wharfe. Easily reached is the stunning old spa town of Harrogate Roman city of York Ripon Leeds Haworth and the Brontes and James Herrriot country are only a few of the popular places that you can visit from here for a day out.
