Situated on the edge of the village adjoining Glen Cova and just four miles from the picturesque old town of Kirriemuir, the delightful detached period cottage has been in the same family since 1860 and was once the original post office on the Earl of Airlie's estate. Dykehead Cottage's rooms are all on ground level, except for three small steps to the bedrooms. The property has a comfortable sitting room that contains a beautiful open fire. The well-equipped dining/kitchen area is spacious and contemporary and can acts as a morning room. There is a fridge, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and tumble dryer. There are two bedrooms, one double and a separate large twin room. Bed linen and towels are provided. The bathroom is well appointed with a shower unit over the bath. There is also a storm porch, ideal for guests to leave sports gear or boots after a long walk. There is a large enclosed, private garden with garden furniture and a BBQ available. This property enjoys stunning south facing views over rolling countryside and farmland and has a number of interesting places close by, including many historic houses and beautiful gardens, Glamis Castle, St Andrews and Captain Scott's Discovery in the nearby city of Dundee. There is also easy access to Stirling, Edinburgh and Glasgow for day trips. This self-catering cottage has full electricity and Total Control night storage heating. It also benefits from having an open-fire and an electric fire. Guests can enjoy two flat-screen TV's, DVD, video and CD player. The nearest shop is just a five-mile journey.
