A pleasant feeling of isolation, yet conveniently placed for a number of attractions. The route that leads to the Isle of Skye was historically used by drovers crossing the Kyle Rhea Straits while taking the cattle to market. Nearby Sandaig Bay was the inspiration for "Camusfearna" in Gavin Maxwell's Ring of Bright Water. There is still a cairn commemorating his beloved otter, Edal. Bernera Barracks, dating from the eighteenth century still stands next to the village, and it is home to well preserved Pictish Brochs. Those who love wild life will relish staying here with the chance of viewing eagles, herons and cormorants and even porpoises, whales and dolphins who will be following their migratory routes.

Customer Rating/Reviews
The views were spectacular and the cottage was spotlessly clean, cosy and well equipped. The welcome pack of milk, bread, eggs, tea, sugar and biscuits was a nice touch. The owner popped round a couple of times to make sure we were ok. Even when it rained we never tired of the view and watched Skye regularly appear and disappear in the mist.
