Cottage Description
Situated in the small village of Dunbeath, on the Caithness coast and with a spectacular cliff top location, this traditional stone-built single storey detached cottage enjoys stunning views of the sea and moorland. The village was the birthplace of the famous Scottish writer Neil Gunn and has a long and fascinating history. This cottage has been superbly refurbished and offers guests comfortable living accommodation. There is a cosy lounge/dining area with a TV and an open fire. The well-appointed kitchen has a fridge/freezer and microwave. There is one double bedroom and one twin bedroom and a separate bathroom with a shower over the bath. Bed linen and towels are provided and a cot and folding bed can be made available. The property has an enclosed garden to the front with views of hills and the sea. The local heritage centre has a wealth of archaeological interest and there are good road links to John o' Groats, the Orkney Isles and the North West coast. Nearby there are many golf courses and opportunities for bird watching, pony trekking, climbing and hill walking. The bird reserves of the secluded Flow Country are close by. The fishing port of Wick is just a half an hour drive has a fine selection of pubs, restaurants and shops. There are also numerous coastal villages within easy reach, which all have a character and charm of their own. The cottage has full electricity. The nearest shops are just fifty yards away and the closest pub and restaurant just three hundred yards away.
