Cottage Description
Lying just 1 mile from the old fishing village of Lybster, this delightful cottage is sat in open countryside and possesses never-ending views out to sea. Lybster itself was once a large herring port but is now considered a peaceful getaway destination. The characteristically ascetic Caithness exterior hides a dazzling well-structured interior, stylishly and creatively restored, providing a vivid, comfortable and welcoming holiday home. Half a mile up a private track off the main road, the cottage has large grassy grounds and an extensive paved area with outdoor garden furniture. Lybster has superb hotels, local shops, a golf course and a charming harbour positioned in a pretty bay. The busy port of Wick is 15 miles north whilst John O'Groats and the Orkney ferry terminal at Scrabster are both less than an hour's drive. They all offer brilliant day trips for the whole family. There are quirky villages, rocky coves and golden beaches all along this stunning coastline while inland are untainted moors and mountains as well as the enigmatic Strath of Kildonan where gold is still present in the river. Ample walking and hill loch angling are amongst the local activities at your disposal. The property contains one double bedroom, one twin bedroom, a wonderful airy open plan dining/living/kitchen area with a mezzanine gallery with two futons accessed by a steep open stair and a shower room. All electric is available plus there is an open fire. There is also a fridge, washer, dryer, microwave, dishwasher, television, video and a CD player. Bed linen and towels are supplied.
