Cottage Description
Considered the gateway to the Kingdom of Mourne, Newcastle has grown in significance as a tourist destination in recent years. No longer an insignificant fishing village, it is now among the premier tourist destinations in Northern Ireland, and this Newcastle detached bungalow is the ideal place to discover all it has to offer. The cottage itself is tastefully furnished and has won a three star rating from the Northern Ireland Tourist Board. With easy access to the beach - which is just 440 yards away - and the mountains, it's an ideal stopping point after a day of exploration giving you the chance to unwind in front of the open fire in the lounge area. The kitchen is fully equipped and fitted and there is a balcony on the first floor to help you enjoy the summer evenings. This Newcastle detached bungalow features four bedrooms with room for eight people although pets are not allowed. Electricity and oil central heating are included, there is an open fire with starter pack and linen and towels are also supplied. You can also take advantage of the bungalow's high chair, travel cot, hairdryer, stair gate, music centre, DVD player, freezer, microwave and dishwasher. As for the area itself, it is immortalized in the words of the Percy French song “Where the Mountains of Mourne Sweep Down to the Sea”. It is bordered on one side by the calm waters of Dundrum Bay and on the other by the sweeping panorama of the Mourn Mountains. It is also home to some famous golf courses including Royal County Down and the neighbouring Mourne Golf Club. There is a children's playground within walking distance and it's also a good spot to immerse yourself in the local culture and enjoy some traditional music.
