Cottage Description

Owl Cottage is a stone-built cottage that has the makings of a fantastic romantic retreat for any couple. It can be found in the old town of Appleby in Westmorland and lies on the outskirts of the Lake District National Park.

The position of this cottage, only miles from the wonders of the Lake District National Park, makes it a great destination for couples that want to witness the majesty of this beautifully stunning region.

The property itself is 200 years old and in a single storey lay out. It has one king size double bedroom. There is also a bathroom. The living area consists of a fitted kitchen and living room with a dining table. The communal green just outside the cottage has a bench for some quiet thinking and wind down time.

Amenities/Accommodation Overview

This property has full gas central heating and a gas fire in the living room. There is an electric cooker, fridge and a microwave in the kitchen. The living area has a TV, DVD player, radio and CD player. Fuel, power, bed linen and towels are supplied.

Roadside parking is available outside the cottage with room for one car and a parking permit is supplied. One well behaved pet is welcome. Unfortunately, no smoking is allowed. The closest cafes, pubs and shops are just a 2 minute walk away.

Local Town Description

Appleby is an historic town and can be found in the middle of the verdant Eden Valley. It was formerly the county town of Westmorland. The idyllic street of Boroughgate has some fine archaic buildings and is positioned in the centre of the town.

Appleby also has a well-preserved Norman castle and the medieval Church of St Lawrence. The town is a major stop on the Settle to Carlisle Railway route and the route passes through some striking scenery in a glorious part of the country. Both the Lake District National Park and Pooley Bridge are close by and worth a visit.
