Cottage Description

The cottage has 2 twin bedrooms, bathroom with bath and shower, good-sized living room with digital TV and DVD player, dining area and an open plan kitchen with ceramic hob and combined microwave oven. A shared utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer is attached, together with a good-sized drying room. Cycles, waders, waterproofs, etc.

Can be stored in this locked facility. A cot & highchair are available if required. All units are fully heated from a central system, with solar heating supplementing the OF boiler. This arrangement, combined with the brilliant insulation in the cottages themselves, makes for warm and energy efficient units, with no extra charges made for services.

Cars are parked immediately in front of the cottages. For the less athletic, all the cottages are on 1 level with easy access and no steps. Wigtown, one mile away, apart from bookshops, has a Post Office, chemist, supermarket, cafes and other shops to provide the necessities for self-catering. We will be delighted to get in any provisions, before you arrive, particularly, bread, milk, butter, eggs, and such items that are inconvenient to carry long distances.

The cottages are all equipped with crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. Guests can choose whether to bring their own linen & towels, or pay a small charge (6 per person) to have them provided. The garden, with its mature trees, shrubs and large expanse of lawn, is fully enclosed and safe for children to play in. PetsKennels are provided free for kennel dogs; well behaved house dogs are welcome in Greylag.

We ask you please not to arrive before three pm and to vacate your cottage by ten am on change-over day; this is to allow us time to prepare your cottage to a fine standard. WALKING: This is excellent walking country with close by Newton Stewart holding an annual walking festival.

CYCLING: The peaceful roads of The Machars provide probably the best cycling you will experience in a extremely long time and an perfect way to discover our natural treasures.

South Scotlands 7Stanes project is an exciting development of 7 centres for mountain biking. The close by Galloway Forest Park at Kirroughtree is 1 of these, is of world class and offers extensive biking on a variety of skill level tracks. Cycle hire is available. We have an indoor lockable facility for bicycles. GOLF: There are some 30 outstanding golf courses in the region.

A dozen of these are with in comfy reach of our cottages, as well as 3 of the œTiger Trail courses. COUNTRY SPORTS: The rivers Cree and Bladnoch and the Palnure Burn provide fine salmon and sea-trout sport. Trout and coarse angling is available from lochs and rivers in the area. Sea angling can also be enjoyed from close by Isle of Whithorn and Garlieston.

BIRD WATCHING: The Wigtown Bay Local Nature Reserve is the largest local reserve in the UK. It has internationally and nationally important numbers.
