Local Town Description Positioned about two miles from the sea and set by the confluence of three rivers, Rye was one of the famous Cinque ports, important at the time for trade and defence, now purely ceremonial. It overlooks Romney Marsh and the River Rother. It has thankfully retained many historic buildings from the medieval times, and Tudor and Georgian periods. Look out for the Town Wall, Landgate and the Ypres Tower, all testaments to the town's eventful past. Today, tourism is important, and the Rye Arts Festival attracts attention, encouraging well known names to the area. Other attractions include Winchelsea Village, the Rye harbour Nature Reserve and Camber Sands.

Customer Rating/Reviews
The views from the lounge and the flat is very convenient to shops and restaurants which we could easily walk to. Some very interesting places to visit near Rye, very nice holiday.

The cottage has a lovely situation overlooking the river and within close proximity to the town centre. There was a high standard of cleanliness and a bottle of wine to greet us. The owner is friendly and gave helpful advice and recommendations on food shops and eating places nearby.

All the descriptions of the property and area were accurate. We were within walking distance of town centre and there was a designated parking place.

It was perfect to be in a wonderful apartment overlooking the river estuary where it was peaceful, but to only be five or ten minutes walk away from Rye town.
