Cottage Description

April Cottage Pet-Friendly Cottage

Built in 1850 as a farm worker's cottage, April Cottage is an attractive red brick property of pleasing double fronted design offering traditional wood beams and cosy open fire coupled with a modern specification to both kitchen and bathroom.

The pretty village of Skerne is just one and a half miles from the vibrant market town of Driffield, known as "Capital of the Yorkshire Wolds". There is a twice weekly market and a number of annual attractions including the Agricultural Show and the Steam and Vintage Rally.

April Cottage is well proportioned with its two bedrooms and its cosy daytime accommodation. With storage heaters and open fire, it will be warm and comfortable even when the weather changes and the nights start to draw in.

Amenities/Accommodation Overview

The two bedrooms are offered as a double and a twin. Bathroom with bath, separate shower, basin and WC.

The sitting room has an open fire, dining area and TV, video, DVD, radio/CD player etc. Attractive kitchen with breakfast area, washing machine, fridge, microwave, electric oven and hob. Storage heaters throughout.

Bed linen, towels, power, fuel and open fire starter pack included in rent, one car off road parking plus one other roadside space.

Outdoor furniture for small enclosed rear patio, up to two well behaved dogs welcome, but must be kept downstairs at all times. Regrettably no smoking allowed. One and a half miles to pub and shop.

Local Town Description

Local Driffield really is an excellent place to use as a first port of call for all the essential day to day amenities. It offers the Driffield Navigation (canal), and has historic mentions in the Domesday Book. The Agricultural Show is on the biggest of the one day shows, and the Steam Rally also includes a popular Saturday evening road run to the centre.

For more extensive touring enjoy visits to the Cruckley Animal Farm, and the soaring Bempton Cliffs to see the gannet and puffin colonies. Sledmere House and Burton Agnes Hall will keep the historic house brigade happy, while those you like the coast will love the sandy beaches to be found on the east Yorkshire coast. Hornsea, Bridlington, Whitby and Scarborough are favourite destinations, while Beverley with its race course is another popular market town.
