Cottage Description
Beautifully constructed of an eye catching local stone, this three bedroomed nineteenth century property was formerly a miner's cottage, well positioned in the small hamlet of Melin Wynt ("windmill"), just three miles from Holywell and eighteen miles from beautiful Chester. The Melin Wynt area is set in the conservation area of Halkyn Mountain, being large areas of common. The miners who lived here were working ancient lead mines that go back to Roman times. Nearby Holywell takes its name from St. Winefriede's Well, deemed to be one of the seven wonders of Wales. Wood View Cottage offers deceptively spacious three bedroomed accommodation in a pleasing Gothic style. There is a lovely wood burner set in a fine random stone surround. Amenities/Accommodation Overview The three bedrooms are offered as a ground floor twin, and two first floor doubles (one having bed access from one side only). There is a ground floor shower room having shower, basin and WC. The sitting room seats four people and has the feature wood burner, conservatory, dining room with two extra comfortable seats, and a feature kitchen with dishwasher, washer/dryer, fridge/freezer, microwave, and electric oven with hob. Two flat screen televisions (one having Sky), DVD player. Full LPG gas central heating throughout. Bed linen, towels, power, fuel and wood burner starter pack included in the rent. High chair, cot and stairgate availability by request. Two car off road parking, regrettably no pets and no smoking. Outdoor furniture, small rear enclosed terraced patio garden (seven steps to the seating area). One mile to pub and shop. Local Town Description The area is well known for the quality of the walking and cycling trails, and with further facilities such as golfing, and horse riding, you can quickly see that this is an area that will really appeal to the outdoor type. There is much pleasure to be gained as well in the standard of the touring with the shops and theatre at Mold not far away, and the majestic beauty of the Snowdonia National Park waiting to be explored. Roman Chester has much to offer with great historic links, many of which are on display. The Zoo is also popular, and the bucket and spade brigade will want to get to the North Wales coastal resorts as quickly as possible!

The comfortable and helpful approach of the owner. Nothing was a problem and the welcome basket was a delight. The fuel provision was very generous. We especially appreciated being able to leave a couple of hours later on our last day. The area and cottage are just lovely and the property is very well equipped and very comfortable. We had a very special week and entertained a total of 16 people over the time (not all at once) but we sat 10 people happily at the dinner table once!
