Local Area Information

Local Area Description: Aberdyfi is a special place and those of us lucky enough to live here know it. But it is not

a secret and we invite you to come and experience the charm and tranquillity of this

ancient little seaport.

One of the most beautiful rivers in Wales, the Dyfi, reaches the sea here. It is a wide,

calm estuary with hills on both banks and an expanse of sky which changes with the

seasons. The colours almost defy description - vibrant turquoise and blue in summer,

pure white snow on green hilltops in winter, the pale lemon sun of spring and fiery red

sunsets in autumn. It is an artists' paradise.

Whatever your style of recreation, Aberdyfi has something to offer, though not

funfairs nor nightclubs!

The village is unspoilt with miles of clean golden sand and sheltered dunes. For

children we offer innocent fun -paddling, building sandcastles and crabbing off the jetty.

There are activities for all ages, some more strenuous than others (have a look at the list

on page 6). But the main thing about Aberdyfi is the magic of the village itself. Quaint

old streets rise up to spectacular viewpoints. Aberdyfi lies within Snowdonia National

Park, famous for its majestic mountain scenery.

In the heart of the village you can enjoy browsing in specialist boutiques and art

galleries or dine in exceptional inns and restaurants. Or you can simply sit in this idyllic

setting and relax. If you are stressed out by work or motorway jams Aberdyfi offers the

perfect break. We even get good weather! The estuary location means mild winters and a

lot less rain than other parts of Wales.

You will not forget your first sight of Aberdyfi as you turn a bend on the road or look

out of the train window and see our village nestling by the sparkling water. We hope you

will come and, if you do, we promise that you will return time and time again.
