Cottage Description
A most impressive stone built renovated town house dating from the Georgian period. It is set in the centre of Kirkcudbright which is to be found on the north Solway shore. As a result of being granted Royal Burgh status in 1455, the town was given the right to carry on trade with ports located outside Scotland. Said to have been built in 1801, The Townhouse has been tastefully renovated and offers a specification that includes king sized beds and marble work tops to the quality kitchen. Exposed beams, fireplaces and polished timber floors complete the picture. There are four bedrooms laid out as one single with pull-out bed for children under twelve only (access from one side only), a king-size double, one with adult bunks, and finally a second floor king-size double with en-suite bathroom having a bath with shower over, basin, WC). Bathroom with bath, shower over, basin, WC. Quality fitted kitchen with dining space. Utility room. Sitting room. Amenities/Accommodation Overview Inclusive of bed linen, power and fuel. Gas heating, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave and electric cooker, DVD/CD, TV with freeview, books, DVDs, high chair and cot available by request, three car roadside parking, barbecue and outdoor furniture for small south facing rear patio, two minutes walk to pub and shop, regret no smoking and no pets. Local Town Description The fishing trade is still a major part of life in this historic town, with the harbour remaining quite busy. Featuring prettily painted houses and wide streets, the town centre also has the ruined McLellan's Castle. The permanent exhibition at the Stewartry Museum is an interesting place to visit with artefacts representing Solway life. Having been dubbed the artists' town since the late nineteenth century, you will be pleased to note the continuing number of galleries, antique and crafts shops that still remain.

The property was superb; very homely with a lot of nice touches. Local amenities were also good. The house reflected Kirkcudbright which is noticeably very clean and that is important. We did not manage to cover all we meant to do which means we will have to return sometime in the future - great.
