Coed Y Gelli Countryside Cottage

Cottage Description

Coed Y Gelli Countryside Cottage

The property comprises a well executed and presented conversion of an old cow byre that is set on the working stud farmer that belongs to the owner. Traditional features have been included and include wooden beams and a wood burner. The cows probably didn't have the benefit of the four poster bed, but it is included anyway!

Llanarth is to be found just five miles from the popular market town of Abergavenny, and walkers and lovers of the outdoor life generally will feel right at home here. The attractively proportioned accommodation is to be found on the ground floor, and includes the one bedroom with a double four poster. The shower room is reached by some internal steps and offers a WC, basin and shower.

The day time accommodation is of an open plan design with dining area, fitted kitchen and sitting area with wood burner. There is an enclosed garden with furniture and barbecue, plus shared use of the large lawned garden with unfenced pond that belongs to the owner.

Amenities/Accommodation Overview

Inclusive of power, fuel, bed linen and towels, as well as wood burner starter pack. Full oil heating, plus extra storage heating and wood burner, washing machine, fridge, microwave, electric hob and electric oven. DVD player, TV with freeview, music player, plus games and books. High chair and travel cot availability by request, two car off road parking. Regret no smoking and no pets, two miles to pub and five miles to shop. Babes in arms only.

Local Town Description

The town's pre Roman importance in iron smelting may give a clue as the origins of the name, and there is certainly much ancient and more recent history to enjoy in this area. The Romans were certainly very active, and you will be amazed by the remains to be viewed at Caerleon, which include the amphitheatre and baths.

Having surroundings that include seven mountains, you won't be surprised to learn that the area has a beauty of its own, and with the Brecon Beacons National Park, and the Brecon Canal both a short distance away, there are great opportunities for outdoor activity including wonderful walking with marvellous views. The Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean are both magnificent areas in their own right, especially in autumn as the leaves change colour, Britain's answer to New England in the fall! Mining museums, abbeys and castles complete the picture.
