Local Town Description Well positioned in the Highlands close to the Cairngorms National Park, Grantown-on-Spey has a full array of amenities, particularly shops, bars and restaurants. Interestingly established as a "new town" in 1765, Grantown has proved popular as a tourist base, and in winter ski enthusiasts make for the Lecht Ski Centre, easily reached from the town. Local pursuits include fishing, golf, walking, bird watching and a chance to follow the well known Whisky Trail. The area is also well placed as a touring base for day trips around the Highlands and the beautiful Cairngorms National Park.

It was a good centre to explore the region, from Castles, Distilleries, a smokehouse, good local pubs with friendly locals, lovely walks and fantastic scenery in a peaceful and tranquil place. Thoroughly enjoyable.
