Cottage Description

Rufford Park Lodge has a well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast area and auto-washing machine, tumble dryer, freezer, larder fridge, dishwasher and microwave. There is a separate comfortable dining room and a large sitting room with a wood burning stove. There is a cloakroom/WC and a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room/toilet on the ground floor. On the first floor are two double bedrooms, one with a TV. There are a further two twin bedrooms, one with a TV, that both have zip and link beds, which can be made a double by arrangement. There is a bathroom/WC with a double-ended Jacuzzi bath and individual steam shower cubicle. There is also a separate shower room/toilet. Linen (duvets) and towels are included. The property enjoys an enclosed courtyard with furniture and a relaxing hot tub.

There are a number of pubs, restaurants and local attractions close to Rufford Park Lodge including Go Ape, Sherwood Pines, Sherwood Forest, plus opportunities for cycling, quad biking, angling and go-karting. Day tickets for Centre Parcs are available locally and the lively cities of Nottingham and Lincoln are just twenty-fives miles away.

This is a no-smoking property that does allow guests to bring pets (two dogs max). There is parking available and Wi-Fi internet access. The lodge benefits from electric and full oil central heating.

We travelled to Rufford Park Lodge from Coogee Beach in Australia. My eldest son was getting married in Southwell and we searched online for a property close to Southwell for the extended family to stay in. We were thrilled with Rufford Park Lodge and so glad we had chosen it. The warm feel of the property and also the quiet surrounding area made it a welcome change from our busy city life in Sydney. A favourite was the hot tub and in my 3 year old Grandson's words "I love your holiday house, Nanna". That said it all for our family who stayed, and we would definitely recommend Rufford Park Lodge for family get-togethers. It was a memorable two weeks! A great location away from it all, but only 10 mins drive from the nearest pub (Rose and Crown - recently renovated and had a lovely selection of drinks though didn't eat there). Close to Sherwood Forest and Southwell (the Workhouse and Abbey were very interesting) and Rufford Abbey was potentially walkable (through the private road) and a nice way to spend a sunny afternoon. A group of 8 of us stayed at Rufford Park Lodge as it looked an ideal base for some off road cycling in Sherwood Forest. We were not disappointed as the Lodge was perfect for us. We found it clean, spacious, well furnished and well equipped. It was only a short ride for us to the trails around Sherwood Pines (the red route was so good we rode it twice!) but dont ignore all the fantastic natural single-track in the forest as well. It was a slightly longer ride to the area surrounding Clumber Park, but well worth the effort. The XC riding in and around the area is for single speeds or geared bikes. The Lodge was a great please to chill out after a hard days riding as it had a good sized private area outside as well as a lawn to the front. We met the owners who were very pleasant and helpful.
