West mainland is the biggest part of the largest island in Orkney and offers the visitor an unsurpassed wealth and choice of attractions. The parish of Rendall sits on the north east side of West Mainland and at Tingwall the harbour has a few of Orkney's finest angling boats as well as the Ro-Ro ferry to the islands of Egilsay, Rousay and Wyre. Mainland offers quaint villages scattered through abundant farmland with glorious cliff scenery along the Atlantic coastline, enclosed golden bays and unmatched moor land and hill vistas. Guests can enjoy uncovering the absorbing history - from the famous antediluvian village at Skara Brae through to the era of Norse and Viking rule, the renaissance architecture of the early 17th century and right up to the 21st century. It really is a real life time capsule. Orkney does not only have historic interests, the islanders lead a prosperous, full life and many leisure activities can be enjoyed as well as deep sea diving, cycling, golf, pony trekking, loch and sea fishing where excellent brown trout can be found, sailing and boat hire. There are art, drama, flower and music festivals held all through the summer months and guests are made to feel very welcome. The islands are also rife with wildlife, with many rare sea birds to be witnessed and beautiful wild flowers to be seen. No trip to Orkney is complete without discovering the smaller islands. Each one has its own individual magic and charisma.

This wonderful detached single-storey extended croft cottage holds scenic views and mind-blowing sunsets. The cottage is set in 2.5 acres of meadowed grounds. There is a decked patio with garden furniture to sit out and fully absorb the tranquillity and ambient environment. The light and luminous extension provides a spacious living/dining room and is accessed from the main section of the cottage by a glazed link. The interior throughout the property is cosy and very effectively furnished. As all rooms are on one level the property may suit guests with wheelchairs or those with mobility problems. For larger groups, a separate bunkhouse is available at an extra charge consisting of two bunk bedrooms and a shower room. The shops are 1 mile, with the nearest pub and hotel just two miles away.

The property is made up of one master bedroom with a king-size bed, one double room, one twin bedroom, one single bedroom off the hallway, living/dining room with a wood-burning stove, kitchen, utility room with a shower, conservatory, games room (pool table, darts), bathroom with a separate shower unit and an extra separate toilet. All power is supplied by electric plus a wood-burning stove. The guests have access to the fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, television, video, DVD player, CD player and the telephone. Bed linen and towels are supplied as well.
