Happy Union Stables Family Cottage

Cottage Description

Happy Union Stables Family Cottage

The property represents a well executed barn conversion set in the most attractive surroundings at Abbey-Cwm-Hir, about six miles from Rhayader. The retention of wooden beams and trusses as well as exposed brickwork is testament to the tradition of the original structure.

The ground floor accommodation, which is set in lovely countryside, offers two bedrooms being a family room with three single beds, as well as a king sized double providing an en suite shower, WC and basin. There is a further shower room with basin, WC and shower, and an open plan living space comprising fitted kitchen, dining area and sitting space with a sofa bed.

You can enjoy the large enclosed front yard that has outdoor furniture to take in the beautiful views of the wooded hills and the village. By booking the property next door in conjunction, you will have a combined accommodation for up to twelve people.

Amenities/Accommodation Overview

Inclusive of electricity and bed linen. Full electric central heating, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge, microwave, ceramic hob and electric oven. DVD, 32" TV with basic satellite, high chair and cot availability by request, three car off road parking, regret no smoking and no pets, five miles to shop, just thirty seconds walk to the owner's quiet village inn.

Local Town Description

Abbey-cwm-Hir can be translated as "abbey in the long valley", and the village itself has a lovely Radnorshire Hills setting. The abbey in question is a Cistercian Abbey constructed in 1143, while ramblers and walkers will be delighted that the well known Glyndwr's Way passes through the village. Try and find time to visit the Hall, a marvellous country mansion with gardens open to the public.

More experienced outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the challenge of the more testing Brecon Beacons and Cambrian Mountains to seek out their exercise, while serious day trippers will enjoy Builth Wells and Rhayader with their restaurants, tea rooms, pubs, craft centres and museums.

Rhayader also boasts the well known Red Kite Feeding Station, allowing you to see these rare birds at close quarters.

Customer Rating/Reviews

We have just returned from the most wonderful holiday ever in the Happy Union Stables in Abbey Cwm Hir. The cottage was superb! Everything one could wish for and more. We were welcomed by the owner's wife who had added the extra touches to her welcome with home made cake and flowers on our arrival. Absolutely wonderful! I have a mobility problem but I was looked after with care and without condescension. We were welcomed by the whole village and felt like friends. Thanks to all.
