Cottage Description

This impressive stone-built semi detached cottage once formed part of a church hall and school in the village of Newtown St Boswells, close to Melrose in the Scottish Borders. This property has been furnished to a very high standard and can accommodate up to seven people.

2 Baillie Hall has one double bedroom, one twin bedroom with en-suite facilities and a family bedroom with a double bed, single bed and en-suite shower. There is also a separate ground floor family bathroom, a sitting room with a balcony and a basement kitchen with dining area.

Amenities/Accommodation Overview

This superb property enjoys gas central heating throughout. The kitchen has an electric oven, gas hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine. 2 Baillie Hall also boasts a colour TV with Freeview, DVD player and a CD/radio. All of the fuel and power is included in the rent and guests are provided with bed linen and towels. A cot, highchair and stair-gate are available by request prior to arrival.

Outside there is off road parking for two vehicles and a decked front sitting area. An unfenced river runs at the rear of the cottage, so children must be supervised at all times. This property has a no smoking policy. Guests are allowed to bring two well-behaved pets. There are shops and pubs within a short walk of the cottage.

Local Town Description

Situated to the southeast of the Eildon Hills is the town of Newtown St Boswells, which sits on the Bowden Burn, a tributary of the River Tweed. Newtown St Boswells is a great base for exploring the Scottish Borders, with historic abbeys, castles and large houses, which are open to the public. The area is popular for walks and cycling. The towns of Melrose, Galashiels and Jedburgh are nearby and Edinburgh is just a forty-minute drive away.

Everything a holiday home should be. We had a wonderful holiday and will definitely go back. This was an ideal base for visiting Edinburgh, Floors Castle at Kelso, lots of lovely interesting places round and about. A week was just not long enough! Wonderfully renovated cottage with real character, lots of space in the cottage, quiet location, warm cottage and lovely deck to sit out on by the stream. Owner very welcoming.
