Tweed Cottage Family Cottage

Situated not too far north of the English/Scottish border is Jedburgh, set on the Jed Water, a tributary of the River Teviot. Tweed Cottage is a super timber framed cottage decorated to a high standard and featuring a first floor living room with verandah affording far reaching views of the town.

The fascinating Mary Queen of Scots visitor centre is one of the first places to consider calling at, and afterwards you may want to enjoy one of the many fine pubs and restaurants available.

The magnificent abbey was founded in 1147, although border wars have left it as the wonderful ruin that it is today.

Amenities/Accommodation Overview

The accommodation is set of the first and second floors, with the two bedrooms, one double and one twin being on the second floor. Also on this floor is the bathroom having bath with shower over, WC and basin.

Open plan first floor living area with sitting area, TV, video, DVD player, CD player/cassette/radio etc. dining space and kitchen with dishwasher, freezer, fridge, microwave and electric cooker. Please note that access to the first floor living area is via wooden steps outside the property. Full gas fired central heating.

Inclusive of towels, bed linen, power and fuel. Cot availability by request. Two car off road parking, regret no smoking and no pets. Outdoor furniture for use on verandah. Five minutes walk to pubs and shops.

Please note that those with mobility problems may find it difficult walking into the town as access is via a steep hill.

Local Town Description

Due to its proximity with the border, the town has a host of historic and architectural sites of interest, including sixteenth century Canongate Bridge and the Piper's House. A local sweet "Jethart Snails" may have been introduced by Napoleonic prisoners of war.

There are many interesting musical events and festivals throughout the year, and in the unlikely event of you getting tired of the town, there lovely places such as Kelso, Melrose and Peebles to explore. Great walking and cycling, while golfers will have difficulty choosing which one of the twenty one local golf courses to challenge.
