Cottage Description
What better way to get to know the ancient and traditional counties of Dorset and Wiltshire than by staying in Grade II listed cottage. Just six miles from the beautiful town of Shaftesbury, 4 Victoria Cottages is a bright, spacious holiday home of character, just perfect for small parties to enjoy the wonderful local ambience. Hindon is an attractive village which certainly appears to have existed in the early thirteenth century, but curiously in relation to other such villages, there is not any great history before that time, suggesting it may have been a "planned" development by a landowner. Whatever its past history, it is now a village of quaint cottages and former coaching inns. Victoria Cottage goes back about one hundred and fifty years, and offers heating and a wood burner for out of season occupation, as well as a fine position in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Amenities/Accommodation Overview There are two bedrooms, one a double and one a single with a 2'6" single stacker bed which can be offered as a double or two singles if requested. The ground floor bathroom has a bath with shower over, WC and basin. Comfortable sitting room with dining area, wood burning stove and attractive, easy to use kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge/freezer, microwave, and electric cooker. Two TVs with freeview (one in bedroom), DVD player, radio/CD player etc, small library of books. Heating from storage radiators. Inclusive of electricity, bed linen and towels, plus starter pack of wood burner logs. One car off road parking, outdoor furniture for use on front patio. One well behaved dog welcome (£10.00 per week), regret no smoking. Pub and shop five minutes walk. Please note that the property is suitable for a maximum of three people. Local Town Description Two of England's most beautiful counties are there for you to explore when you stay at Victoria Cottages. To begin with you are just four miles from Shaftesbury which has more history alone that some counties put together. You may also recognise the famous Golden Hill from the early Hovis adverts. Salisbury Plain, Stonehenge, Sherborne with its two castles, Cranborne Chase, and further afield, Bath, Bournemouth and Poole and the World Heritage status Jurassic Coast. Weymouth will host sailing events at the 2012 Olympics, and Salisbury Cathedral has the tallest spire in England. Great pubs, restaurants and shops, great walking and cycling, great outdoor activities and great touring. In fact, the whole area is just great!

Customer Rating/Reviews
We had a great holiday. the cottage was superb. The area was lovely. Directions were easy to follow . The village was everything that we wanted and the information about places to see from the cottage was certainly more than enough. Thank you and the owner for a great time.

A nice little cottage in a lovely village, situated in a beautiful area and near fascinating places like Salisbury, Stonehenge or Old Wardour Castle.

The situation of the cottage was superb. A quiet retreat but with amenities on hand. The cottage had everything even down to excellent local walks. There were lots of things to see and do in the area and we will certainly return.
