Hotel Description
The Saracens Head Hotel is located in the lovely market town of Southwell in the heart of the Nottinghamshire countryside. Once known as the Kings Arms the hotel was established in the 12th Century however was rebuilt in the 16th Century and further additions made in the 1970s. The reception area restaurant and above are part of the towns Assembly Rooms built in 1818 and restoration work has revealed Elizabethan wall paintings which can be seen in the Bramley Room and the King Charles Suite in the oldest wing of the hotel. The town of Southwell boasts a rich historical and architectural heritage as well as the magnificent Norman Minster and numerous Prebendal houses. From the hotels doorstep you can take a stroll through the towns unique collection of shops visit the 19th century workhouse or simply unwind in the town park.

From the M1 north junction 21A keep in right hand lane and merge onto the A46 Signposted Leicester North Newark. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A46 Signposted Newark. At the next roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A46 Signposted Newark Doncaster. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A6097 Signposted Doncaster. At the next roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the A612 Signposted Southwell. At the T-junction turn right onto the A612 and the hotel will be on your left-hand side. |
