1. Whipsnade - Whipsnade, Dunstable, LU6 2LF Tel No: 01582 87217

Whipsnade Zoo houses over 2500 animals in 600 acres of parkland and is one of Europe's largest conservation wildlife parks. Set on the Chiltern Hills in Bedfordshire Whipsnade Zoo is a great day out for all the family including a free Safari bus, keeper talks and animal feeds.

2. Woburn Safari Park - Woburn Park, Bedfordshire, MK17 1QN Tel No: 01525 290407

Woburn Safari Park first opened to the public in 1970 and has been involved in the conservation of a variety of animal species for over 100 years. Today visitors can drive through and see a great variety of large animals including elephants, lions, tigers, giraffes and monkeys. You can also go on a foot safari and see some of the smaller animals such as lemurs, penguins and wallabies. There are regular talks, animal feeds and a host of activities throughout the park.

3. Leighton Buzzard Railway - Pages Park Station, Leighton Buzzard, LU7 4TN Tel No: 01525 373888

Leighton Buzzard Railway is a narrow gauge heritage railway running through urban settings and stunning Bedfordshire countryside with views over the Chiltern Hills. The 70 minute round trip runs on a variety of Steam and Diesel locomotives with rolling stock.

4. Shuttleworth Collection - Old Warden, Biggleswade, SG18 9EP Tel No: 01767 627927

The Shuttleworth Collection portrays the history of air travel from the 1900's to the 1950's. All the aircraft are housed in 8 hangers and there are regular airshows throughout the summer. Admission also includes the Bird of Prey Centre, Swiss Garden and Childrens Play Centre.

5. Priory Country Park - Barkers Lane, Bedford, MK41 9SH Tel No: 01234 211182

Priory Country Park is a wonderful area of woodlands, meadows and lakes covering some 360 acres next to the Great Ouse. All the family will love the open space with wildlife in abundance and it is a great area for walking, cycling sailing and fishing.
