1. World of Beatrix Potter - Bowness-on-Windermere, Cumbria, The Lake District, LA23 3BX
This is the only Beatrix themed park in Europe where the characters OF Beatrix Potter are brought to life in various scenarios. You can meet Jemima Puddle-duck, Peter Rabbit and numerous other enjoyable characters. There is also a tea room and a gift shop.
This 13th century ruin of an old castle lies on the site of an old Roman Fort. You can walk around this ruined castle and some parts date back to 1175. This is quite a large ruin and well worth a visit.

Lake Windermere is situated in the picturesque village of Windermere and offers cruises all around one of the largest lakes in the Lake District. Wedding are also catered for in this idyllic setting.
4. Roman Army Museum - Greenhead, Northumberland, CA6 7JB - Tel No: 01697 747485
This museum is located next to the walltown Crag part of Adrian's wall and will tell you everything you want to know about the Roman soldier from armour, living conditions and pay to training and weapons and even what he did in his spare time. There is also a cafe and gift shop that sells souvenirs and the museum also does reconstructions and you can view life sized roam soldiers.
5. Grizedale Forest Park - Hawkshead, Cumbria, LA22 0QJ - Tel No: 01229 860010
Grizedale forest is owned and maintained by the forestry commission and has lots to do for all ages and abilities. There are many marked walking and cycling trails through the forest with its great oak and conifers. There is a visitor's centre and a mountain bike hire centre as well as the well known Go Ape adventure parks. There are also many events held here such as rallies and mountain bike events. 6. South Lakes Wild Animal Park - Broughton Road, Dalton-in-Furness, Cumbria, LA15 8JR - Tel No: 01229 466086
The South Lakes Wild Animal Park has a large collection of animals ranging from giraffes and rhino to Sumatran Tiger and White Throated Wallaby. There are feeding times where you can help feed the animals. This is a great Zoo has a cafe and many facilities.
7. Lake District Sheepdog Experience - Troutal Farm, Seathwaite, Duddon Valley, Cumbria, LA20 6EF - Tel No: 01229 716235
Have you ever wanted to experience handling sheep dogs, then here's your chance. There are many courses available and the dogs are well trained and this activity requires little effort. You will be trained to handle these well trained border collies. Other courses are available.
8. Lake District Coast Aquarium Maryport - South Quay, Maryport, Cumbria, CA15 8AB - Tel No: 01900 817760
This aquarium offers a great variety of marine life from the Irish Sea. There are themed displays and a great variance of invertebrates and fish. The aquarium doesn't contain mammals. There is also a cafe.
