1. Beverley Minster - 38 Highgate, Beverley, East Yorkshire, HU17 0DN - Tel No: 01482 868540
Beverley Minister is a large parish church in the Church of England. There are several exciting attractions in this church, including the Purbeck Marble columns, sixty eight 16th century misericords, a stiff-leaf carving, and the tomb of Lady Eleanor Percy. An organ resides inside of the church that was built in 1769 by one John Snetzler. This organ has been restored twice, once in 1884 and once in 1962. This is a great place to visit in East Yorkshire.
2. Burton Constable Hall - Burton Constable, Hull, East Yorkshire, HU11 4LN - Tel No: 01964 562400
Set in a beautiful 300 acre park, the Burton Constable Hall is a large Elizabethan-style mansion. There are more than 30 rooms open to viewing, with furniture dating back to the Elizabethan times in each room. There are hundreds of paintings, scientific instruments, and sculptures contained within this home. The Constable family has lived in the mansion for four centuries, and still maintain the grounds to this very day.
3. Sewerby Hall and Gardens - Sewerby, Bridlington, East Yorkshire, YO15 1EA - Tel No: 01262 673769
Sewerby Hall and Gardens is a great place for a family visit. It contains attractions such as gardens, a mini-zoo, a museum, and different sports. One of the major sports participated in Sewerby hall is miniature golf. This beautiful place is only two miles north of the seaside, and was built back in 1720 by John Greame. Expansions were made in 1808 and 1811. There are several floors open to the public for viewing, and several artwork and photograph exhibitions are inside the hall. The beautiful gardens are set into the beautiful landscape, and have been maintained beautifully for two hundred years.
4. Fort Paull - Paull, Kingston upon Hull, East Yorkshire, HU12 8FP - Tel No: 01482 896236
Fort Paull is the only remaining Napoleonic Fortress in Yorkshire. Inside the fort, visitors will be able to view weapons that were used 500 years ago, as well as see the defenses Yorkshire had five centuries ago. Hundreds of pictures, items, and other exhibits are portrayed throughout the 10 acres of land for viewing pleasure. One of the primary attractions is the world's last Blackburn Beverley Aircraft, which Fort Paull boasts about due to its excellent condition which has been maintained over the years.
5. Museums Quarter - High Street, Old Town, Hull, East Yorkshire, HU1 1PS - Tel No: 01482 613902
The Museums Quarter is set into Hull's Old Town, featuring four different museums that have information and exhibits dating back 235 million years. The four museums are the Hull & East Riding Museum, Artic Corsair, Streelife Museum, and Wilberforce Museum. Each museum portrays a unique part of history, including the time of the woolly mammoth, the transatlantic slave trade, and old-time deep-sea fishing.
6. Maister House - 160 High Street, Hull, East Yorkshire, HU1 1NL - Tel No: 01723 870423
Rebuilt in 1743 after a damaging fire, the Maister House is a Late-Renaissance style home open for visitors to see how homes were back in the Renaissance times. This is one of the only surviving homes from Hull's international trading heyday. Maister House has been maintained over the years, and has become a great tourist attraction in East Yorkshire.
7. Bayle Museum - Bayle Gate, Old Town, Bridlington, East Yorkshire, YO16 4PZ - Tel No: 01262 674353
Once the entrance to Brindlington Priory, the Bayle Museum is a piece of history in itself. Inside its walls it contains several artifacts, including a glove of Queen Henrietta Maria, who visited Bridlington in 1642. The museum also contains a court room which was used for the area's legal proceedings back in the seventeenth century. There are many other exhibits, including photographs, paintings, and even life-size wax models of people who lived back then.
