About Lancashire

Ribble Valley, Lancashire

Lancashire is a county in the north west of England. Its county town is Lancaster whilst other towns such as Blackburn, Preston and Burnley lie within its boundaries. The holiday resort of Blackpool is a popular tourist destination. The Blackpool Pleasure Beach and golden beaches the town has to offer ensure it attracts millions of tourists every year. The Blackpool Tower is an iconic structure and the town itself is also a keen destination for many stag do and hen trips.

The furthest northern part of Lancashire takes in some of the picturesque Lake District region whilst the Pennines are a beautiful area suitable for walking. The Forest of Bowman is also a great place to go walking and cycling.

The metropolitan areas of Liverpool and Manchester are within short distance of Lancashire whilst Ireland can be visited via either the airports in the two cities or by the ports.

Lancashire came into its own during the Industrial Revolution when the textile trade boomed through the mill towns within the region. This is an era that is kept alive by the numerous museums around the county.
