About Lincolnshire

Lincolnshire

Lincolnshire is a county on the east coast of England with the county town being Lincoln. The city of Lincoln is dominated by its medieval castle and church. The county is a paradox of the fertile marshy land of the Fens and the Lincolshire Wolds that lie to the south of the county which provides many areas of outstanding natural beauty.

The county itself is the second largest county in England behind Yorkshire. The county mainly caters for agricultural land. A number of mills and castles scatter the county whilst the coastline is full of seaside resorts that prove popular every year.

There are also unbelievable stretches of land that are ideal for walking and cycling routes. The Humber Bridge falls within the Lincolnshire boundaries at Kingston Upon Hull. It is the fifth largest suspension bridge in the world. Cleethorpes Pleasure Island is also a great place to take the family where all can enjoy what is on offer.

The National Fishing Heritage Centre at Grimsby is a must see for anyone interested in their maritime history or those who would just like to know more on the nautical past of Britain.
