1. Drayton Manor Theme Park - nr Tamworth, Staffordshire, B78 3TW - Tel No: 08444 721950

Drayton Manor Theme Park, located near Tamworth, is a large theme park famous for thrilling rollercoaster and water rides. Other attractions include the Drayton Manor Zoo, with over 100 species of animals, and Thomas Land, with rides and play areas based on the television series Thomas and Friends. The park is open daily from March through October.

2. Churnet Valley Railway - Cheddleton, Leek, Staffordshire, ST13 7EE - Tel No: 01538 360522

The Churnet Valley Railway operates steam trains along an eleven kilometer stretch through the scenic Churnet River valley. Trains run on Wednesdays, weekends, and holidays throughout most of the year, and are boarded at Cheddleton Station or Froghall Station located east of Stoke-on -Trent.

3. The Potteries Museum & Art Gallery - Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, ST1 3DW  - Tel No: 01782 232323

The Potteries Museum and Art Gallery is located in Stoke-on-Trent, and houses exhibits ranging from World War II aircraft to an extensive and world renowned collection of Staffordshire ceramics. A gallery of artwork created by artists including Picasso, Degas, and Durer is also open for viewing. The Museum is open daily, and admission is free.

4. Trentham Monkey Forest - Trentham, Staffordshire, ST4 8AY - Tel No: 01782 659845

Located outside of Stoke-on-Trent on the Trentham Estate, the Monkey Forest is sixty acres of wooded area where 140 Barbary Macaque monkeys live. Visitors walk through the forest on a marked path observing the monkeys behaving as they would in their natural environment in Africa. No interaction with the monkeys is permitted; however, they walk and sit next to visitors without fear. The Forest is open daily during spring, summer and autumn months.

5. Alton Towers Resort - Alton, Staffordshire, ST10 4DB - Tel No: 08712 223330

Located in the village of Alton 26 kilometers east of Stoke-on-Trent, the Alton Towers Resort is one of England's most popular theme parks. The main theme park features several thrill rides, such as the Nemesis and the Oblivion. Other attractions include a water park, a petting zoo, two nine-hole miniature golf courses, and a pirate -themed aquarium. Two hotels are located within the theme park offering visitors easy access to the park's attractions. The resort welcomes guests all year round.

6. The Wedgwood Museum - Barlaston, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire , ST12 9ER - Tel No: 01782 371900

The Wedgwood Museum is located in the village of Barlaston, and is part of a complex that includes the Wedgwood Visitors Centre and the Wedgwood factory. The museum has over 5,000 pieces in exhibits detailing the history of the Wedgwood company, its products and manufacturing processes. The Museum and Visitors Centre are open daily.

7. Park Hall Country Park - Hulme, Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire, ST3 5BH - Tel No: 01782 599584

Park Hall Country Park is a National Nature preserve located just outside Stoke-on-Trent. Park visitors can enjoy easy or challenging walks on many marked paths through canyons and wetlands; dogs are also welcome on leash. Several fishing pools are available throughout the park for fishermen to use and enjoy. The Park is open year round.

8. Cannock Chase - Cannock, Staffordshire, WS15 2UQ - Tel No: 01543 877666

Cannock Chase is a natural area of mixed forests and lowland heath that has been designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. An extensive network of biking trails is maintained throughout the Chase for use by serious mountain bikers or families interested in a leisure cycling outing. Bike hire is available at the Swinnerton Cycles Forest Centre.
