About County Fermanagh

Devenish Island County Fermanagh

Known as the Lakeland County, County Fermanagh is one of the most beautiful regions within Britain. It can be found in the southern part of Northern Ireland and rests against the border of the Republic of Ireland.

It is the only county in Northern Ireland not to adjoin with Lough Neagh but, instead, adjoins to Lough Erne which is a great venue for water sports and the Lough Erne Golf Resort. Enniskillen is the county town of County Fermanagh and the county lies within the Ulster region.

County Fermanagh relies on the industries of agriculture and tourism. There are no real large cities or towns within the county so it is reliant upon its breath-taking countryside to attract outsiders.

The world famous writer Oscar Wilde hails from the county, born in Dublin but he lived in the area for a long period. County Fermanagh is also home to some beautiful castles and abbeys which present the more magical history of Ireland. Other attractions that are worth visiting include Belleek Pottery, Devenish Island and the Marble Arch Caves.
