Brynteg

The village developed on a crossroads near the eastern coast of the Isle of Anglesey. Agriculture has been the mainstay of the hamlet from the time of the feudal lords and continues to the present day privately owned farms. Fields of rich, fertile farmland surround housing districts and local businesses.

During the reign of King Edward, Anglesey had 60 windmills, many were later replaced. Brynteg constructed a windmill in the late 1700s, one of the earliest of its time, but the building fell into disrepair in the early 1900s.

The crossroads of the community travel to the nearby village of Llangefni and the coastal village of Benllech. Gentle climbing hills and thick green forests decorate the landscape around Brynteg. Paved roads travel past a combination of modern brick and traditional stone buildings. The majority of residents speak fluent Welsh, but most residents also speak English.

Buses and private taxi companies service Brynteg, but there is no railway service.

Activities and Attractions

Golf fans have the opportunity of playing at the local Storws Wen Golf Club. The course has nine holes, but allows for different teeing positions for a full 18 holes of play. The picturesque landscaping includes water features and wooded areas. See amazing views of the bay on one end and the Snowdonian Mountain range on the other. The clubhouse features a restaurant and bar for snacks, full meals or a refreshing beverage.

Kids of all ages enjoy a trip to the nearby Foal Farm Park. A real working facility, the farm raises shire horses, but also has plenty of domestic animals on hand that relish a treat from youngsters. Take wagon rides around the facility and view the horses. Foal Farm Park also has an authentic chocolate factory where guests may watch chocolatiers hand dip and mould fancy treats. The café bistro and bar provides snacks or full meals and beverages to round out the visit.

Being only 2 miles (3.2 km) from the oceanfront, vistors usually journey to Benllech. Enjoy strolling or sunbathing on award winning clean, sandy beaches. Indulge in water activities or explore the many shops conveniently located along the beachfront. Have lunch at a local fish and chips shop or visit the ice cream parlour and enjoy a refreshing treat on a hot summer’s day.
