Two lakes provide opportunities for water sports and fishing enthusiasts. Golfers can find courses in the Bude area. For families, a Treasure Trail is a great way to pass the time when the weather's too bad to go to the beach. Treasure Trails send visitors on a hunt for clues to a murder mystery or the location of a treasure. The routes are designed to show visitors the historic locations and beautiful sights of Bude. The activity is inexpensive, and is also available in towns throughout Cornwall. Families looking for indoor fun can find it at Harlequinns Leisure which features ten pin bowling, children's play area, snack bar and a licensed bar.
Nearby Tintagel Castle and Fort lays claim to being King Arthur's birthplace. The centuries-old castle saw use as a Roman settlement, a Dark Ages palace and a medieval fortress. The recently discovered "Arthnou" stone, 1400 years old, just adds to the historic mystique of the castle. Close to Tintagel Castle is King Arthur's Great Hall, a site dedicated to the legend and times of King Arthur.
Local historic locations include Tapeley Park, a 1000-year-old home, Lanhydrock country house and estate, and Clovelly Court Gardens, a Victorian walled kitchen garden.
