St. Agnes

St. Agnes is a picturesque village along Cornwall's north coast that retains a traditional friendly Cornish atmosphere. The village is bound by coastline on three sides, which has played a pivotal role in its history. It's also a former mining town, with dozens of examples of industrial archeology and geological interest. Due to its location, St. Agnes is a good choice for a centralized base when touring all that Cornwall has to offer.

St. Agnes has a variety of holiday accommodations including guest houses and B&Bs, hotels, cabins and campsites. For those that prefer a more self-contained vacation, there are an assortment of grocers and sellers of fresh produce, butchers, a bank, post office, pharmacy, doctors and even veterinary services. The area is a popular destination for campsites and caravans, making it all the more desirable for families and large groups traveling together. Touring pitches for tents and caravans are available, as are static vans within the overnight parks. The majority of campsites and touring parks are only open from April to October.

Art galleries, artisans' workshops and handmade craft shops offer some of the best choices for unique gift ideas. There are several pubs, cafes and restaurants, that serve a variety of food and drink, catering to all tastes and pockets. The St. Agnes Arts and Crafts Trail is a unique opportunity to experience the variety of local arts and crafts while enjoying some of the area's natural scenery. Along the trail visitors will also find 'Stippy Stappy', a row of old miners' cottages, the 17th century Dritwood Spars Hotel, Trevaunance Cove and the Blue Hills Mining Centre.

St. Agnes is also a great place to try your hand at surfing or bodyboarding, or enjoy a number of other watersports. Several of the board shops within the area not only have boards for sale, they also offer board rentals and lessons. There are four beaches in St. Agnes, including Chapel Porth and Trevellas Porth. Chapel Porth is good for long walks or swimming, and has miles of walkable sandy beaches that are most accessible at low tide. Trevellas Porth is mainly pebbles, but offers snorkelling opportunities when the sea is calm.

St. Agnes is on the Cornwall County Bus Service lines. The nearest railway stations are located in Redruth (5.7 miles) and Truro (7.1 miles) with connecting bus service from both locations. If driving, St. Agnes is accessible off the A30.
