1. Bodelwyddan Castle - Clwyd Villa, Castle Street, Rhuddlan, Rhyl, LL18 5YA - Tel No: 01745 585088

Bodelwyddan Castle has a rich history that goes back to the early 1400s. The castle was renovated by Sir John Hay Williams during the mid 1800s and is said to be haunted by ghostly events. Visitors will find a fascinating museum, an exquisite art gallery, stunning gardens and more. Located in Denbighshire, North Wales, Bodelwyddan Castle is housed in acres of beautiful parkland and is partnered with the National Portrait Gallery. It is open to the public on a daily schedule throughout most of the year.

2. Welsh Mountain Zoo - Welsh Mountain Zoo, Old Highway, Colwyn Bay, LL28 5UY - Tel No: 01492 532938

The Welsh Mountain Zoo is located above Colwyn Bay in North Wales. It offers fabulous panoramic views and scenery, as well as elegant gardens and a wonderful conservation zoo. Visitors spend the day exploring woodland trails while viewing many endangered and rare animals from around the world. There is also a Children Farm, Jungle Adventure Land and Tarzan Trail Adventure play area. Welsh Mountain Zoo is open April through October.

3. Rhyl - West Parade, Rhyl, Denbighshire, LL18 - Tel No: 01745 355068

The seaside town of Rhyl is located in Wales attracts families from around the world because of its great, clean, sandy beaches. Families enjoy traditional beach time activities, as well as a fairground that is filled with rides and fun things to do for children. Families that enjoy cycling can ride through the Sustrans Cycle Route between Rhyl and Prestatyn and enjoy seven miles of spectacular scenery.

4. Berwyn Slate Quarry - The Horseshoe Pass, Llangollen, Denbighshire, LL20 8DP

The Berwyn State Quarry is located on Horseshoe Pass, 1360 feet above sea level, close to Llangollen. Established about 1700, Berwyn Slate is perhaps the oldest, if not one of the oldest slate quarries. The quarry was working on a regular basis until the 1940s. The Bickford family bought the quarry in 1991, and made vast improvements including updating machinery. The quarry is open Monday through Friday. Visitors are asked to call for tours.

5. llangollen museum - Parade Street, Llangollen, Clwyd, LL20 8PW - Tel No: 01978 862862

The Llangollen Museum opened in 2002. The archives at the Llangollen Musem have photographs of Llangollen, as well as maps and other valuable documents. There are records that give historical information of the people and places of the area, computer displays, visual interpretations and a special section for children. There is also a gift shop featuring local crafts, cards and books and other trinkets. The Llangollen Museum is open every day.

6. Rhuddlan Castle - Hylas Lane, Rhuddlan, Denbighshire, LL18 5 - Tel No: 01745 590777

Rhuddan Castle is located in North Wales. In 1277, it was King Edward's second Welsh fortification. It is protected by a river dock, which forms one side of the concentrically designed castle. There is a small admission fee for most, but Welsh residents over 60 or children under 16 have free entry. The Castle is opened March through December, Monday through Sunday.
